This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching a great group of talented and energetic kindergarten students in a dual immersion program. Our school is located in a social-economic disadvantaged area. Our community of dual immersion parents prides itself for their commitment to their child's education.
My Project
At our school we implement the workshop model approach for writing. We teach and encourage our students to become passionate about writing their stories and books. One way my kinder students get motivated is by the use of color in their drawings.
Our class is in need of a set colorful, sketch markers to write/color their books.
I would love to distribute these sketch markers to all my students to ensure they all have the resources needed to succeed in becoming writers. My hope is that these tools will keep their motivation afloat throughout the year.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
