My students need these Spheros and other coding devices to jumpstart and/or introduce them to the world of coding in a unique, fun, and exciting way!

My Students

My second-grade scholars come from different socio-economic backgrounds. They range between the ages of 7 and 8 years old and receive their education in an urban environment with a population of 43.4% Black, Non-Hispanic, 26.5% Hispanic, 24.4% White, Non-Hispanic, and 4.6% Multiracial. My school participates in the Federal Free School Lunch program where 100% of our scholars receive a nutritional meal every day. They come to school despite what they are going through and work hard to accomplish a set goal.

We are also one of few STEM schools in the school district that provides all of our scholars with an equal opportunity for innovation, engineering and design principles, and stewardship within the context of cross-curricular, authentic problem-based learning units.

My Project

My students love exploring with manipulatives. They are hands-on and help those who need to use their senses to grasp concepts involving science, technology, engineering, and math. All of these coding materials will be used to enhance the way we use some of the technology we already have at our fingertips in our educational facility. They will have my scholars not only excited about learning but they will also prepare them to think independently, work collaboratively, and effectively learn how to solve problems using the apple products the school has so graciously invested in.

Investing in these scholars through Stem really propels them into the future.

The economy we live in is extremely competitive and seeks out workers who are skilled in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. Which for me is why I would like to start my scholars working on these skills as early as possible.
