My pre-k students need a tea party playset, a kid-safe dishwasher, a housecleaning set, a kid-safe microwave, other kid-safe appliances, and a push-button play phone.

"Children's play," their inborn disposition for imagination, is being silenced in the world we live in. Their spontaneous play is being replaced with computer games, movies, and hours and hours of television. Children long to mimic the adult world through self-initiated dramatic play, but are spending too much time in front of screens and not enough time exercising their predisposition for fantasy. Let's get their little creative minds going and watch success later on soar in higher-level math and science.
My main goal in pre-k is to keep the children engaged and interested in learning. We are a large, urban school and many of the children come from families who are struggling financially. Our parents may not have the extra funds available to buy educational materials for their children. In September, I will be responsible for educating three and four year olds who are coming to school for the first time.
We are in need of items for our housekeeping and kitchen area such as a phone, tea set, dishwasher, appliances, microwave, and housecleaning set. This will give the children an opportunity to pretend to be mom, dad and even a chef. The children are learning about the world around them and love to pretend and role-play. This type of play will aid them in language development as well as in healthy intellectual, social, and emotional development.
Please help bring spontaneous play into the lives of 18 children. Play is the dominant mode of learning at this age and children learn best through self-created learning experiences. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read our proposal.
