This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

By creating a class store for rewards in my reading interventionist classroom, it helps teach students important life skills in a fun and engaging way. Students will use the reward items as incentives for good behavior, academic effort, or other positive actions. Tangible rewards keep students motivated and help reinforce classroom rules and goals. The play money will be part of the points system that acts as currency that students earn and spend. This teaches the basic skills of math, financial literacy, saving vs. spending, and delayed gratification. The storage containers and shelves will organize and display store items neatly. This helps students practice responsibility and organization, and creates a more realistic store experience. The labels will identify how how much each item costs in points or play money in order to reinforces number recognition, value comparison, and decision-making.
