Help me give my students their most basic school needs. Our school is very limited budget wise, along with the families we serve. We are looking to get some new school supplies for our classrooms!
We work with students in special education with extremely high needs. They are in alternative placement most, if not all, of their school day. Our students have cognitive disabilities and emotional/behavioral disabilities. Our goal each day as their educators is to help them have the most "typical" school day, where they have access to curriculum, materials, and experiences that their peers would at a comprehensive school. Our end goal is to work through their behavioral issues so they can transition back to their comprehensive school. Unfortunately, with our program being for a small amount of students, we lack resources. This holds our students back from reaching their potential, and slows their progress toward transitioning back to their comprehensive schools. We have come to this site to try and give our students everything we possibly can to make them as successful as they possibly can be!
My Project
Our program serves students in a low income area. It is difficult for their families to provide all supplies we may need throughout the year. We are running low on our supplies already, and are looking to restock. These supplies will help our students have the basic tools they need in the classroom to help them learn. They will also help us to continue to plan and have the materials needed for our push toward project based learning. For example, the tape, stapler, art supplies, posters, rules, and graph paper will help students plan and create numerous projects and learn through a hands-on approach.
