My Project

As an educator and advocate for mental health, I aim to establish a dedicated calm-down corner within my classroom. Each year, I encounter a handful of students who struggle with their mental health. Often, these students express a need to visit the guidance counselor's office to find solace and work through their emotions. While the counselor's office serves as a supportive environment, it also means these students are frequently taken out of class.

To address this, I want to carve out a specific area within my classroom where students can self-regulate.

The items I have chosen mark the beginning of this corner, and I plan to continually expand it with additional resources and materials aimed at aiding self-regulation. Creating this space aligns with my overarching goal of fostering a safe environment within my classroom.

By incorporating these resources, I aim to provide students with a space where they can cultivate a positive and productive mindset. It's important to me that my classroom serves as a sanctuary where students feel empowered to manage their emotions effectively.
