I will be working with students with diverse needs—specifically, language impairments and others with severe learning deficits.
Having a calm-down corner in my classroom will serve as an intervention system that will help me teach my geniuses how to cope, handle their emotions, and refocus in the classroom—without having to be sent out of the classroom for behavioral issues causing them to miss valuable instruction time. It will also teach scholars strategies to self-regulate, which can be used inside or outside of the classroom. This promotes social-emotional learning. Having these social-emotional learning tools will tremendously help my scholars.
