The Calculation of Success: Class Set of Calculators

Help me give my students the ability to be successful in my class by having a class set of calculators. So many of my students lack the means to purchase a calculator.

My Project

In AP Environmental Science and Environmental Systems, there is a crossroads between math and science that many are unaware of. Most of my students do not own calculators, and one is needed in my class constantly. So many times, students have been unsuccessful on tests due to lack of access to a calculator.

Having a class set of calculators would promote equity in my classroom.

We are trying to promote AP classes for all students, and many times access to supplies can be a barrier for a student that might not otherwise be. Having a class set of calculators would reduce student anxiety on test days because they wouldn't have to worry about trying to find a calculator or borrowing one, because there would be a whole set available when they get to my room.
