This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my 6th year teaching Gifted and Talented students. I serve four different schools. Our curriculum includes chess, sudoku, logic problems, Ancient Egypt, Cinderella stories, and coding. My students love being challenged and introduced to new concepts.

My favorite part of teaching is seeing the "aha" moment when they understand what I'm teaching them.

I find new ways to teach them so they can be engaged. I try to instill that work isn't hard but it can be challenging.

My Project

The Junior Botball Challenge is an education program that provides reusable robotics equipment, standards-aligned curriculum, and professional development for educators. I was able to attend the summer institute and would love to continue expanding my knowledge and coding skills by attending the winter institute.

I will be able to teach my students more in-depth computer science and enrich their coding skills.

I have one robot at the moment and I will receive one more for my classroom by attending the institute. I would like to challenge my students by having small classroom competitions. The 2nd robot will definitely help make it possible.
