My Students
My students are a group of very high functioning students in an Honors English Class. Our school has a diverse group of students. We have both Spanish and Mandarin immersion programs at our campus. We are based in California and we get to see the two very distinct economic spectrums around us. The students are highly motivated to give back to the community in their own way and I have been inspired by their enthusiasm. The unity I see in the diversity of my classes is contagious and thus I designed the project for them to take it as far as they can. My students know the importance of resources in their community and the lack of them too. Therefore, we are ready to launch our venture.
My Project
In my English Honors 8 students are reading "The Outsiders" by S. E Hinton and they want to delve into the prevalent theme of social /economic disparity in the novel. They are going to look at their community and come up with several proposals for our city's Chamber of Commerce to bridge the resource gap. They will work with the members and their data for their research purposes. My students are going to conduct this research and try to find viable solutions for bridging the gap between the "haves" and the "have nots". This macbook will be in classroom and will be facilitating the incoming data from the sources. It will also be our master presenting tool both to the members of the Chamber of Commerce and to their audience. They will be using keynote one of the best tools created by Apple for this type of project. There will be multiple updates from various devices to the master presentation on this computer. Also, data, charts, graphs will be incorporated for tangible data to enrich their research.
