My Students
My students are very eager to learn and love to read. However, we do not have many novels for the students to read. We are constantly pulling stories out of the basal or online articles. I would like for my students to be able to experience novel studies so they can really dig into literature.
My students are full of life and have a hunger for learning.
Majority of my students come from a lower income home and they do not get to experience the type of life that I did as a middle class child. When my students come to school they know they are loved and well taken care of. There are many days that when the bell rings students ask and beg if they can stay after school; they do not want to go home. Sometimes school is the best location for these growing children.
My Project
My students will be using The Boy Who Dared novels throughout the school day. We will read the book during reading time and apply skills such as locating main idea, theme, discussing plot, characterization, problem, solution, and many other literary skills. We will also use these books during writing to help improve their writing skills covering many topics that are included in the book. We will also be pulling out the history that flows through the book to use during social studies. As you can see the students will greatly be impacted through the use of this one novel.
This project will make a difference in the lives of all of my students.
I believe this because my students will be so excited about using a novel that it will really help them become more focused in class. This novel will be used across three subjects and the limit on their learning will be limitless. This novel is going to take my students to a place in education that they never imagined.
