I have 20 awesome fourth graders. Most of my students come from low-income families. These are hard-working students who just need a few basic items to get ahead in school. They are eager to learn and can't wait to be introduced to new things. They are always so appreciative of any new materials that I bring in or are donated to our classroom. I just want to see them have the same opportunities as every student in the world should.
My students have requested that we do a project where they can get more books that are higher reading levels. They have stated that we need more books that challenge them in their reading. They have chosen the books that are included in this project.
My students want to challenge themselves, so they have asked for harder books.
I want them to enjoy reading and to challenge themselves. They are willing to put in the work so I was willing to let them help me write this project. I thought it would help them get more excited if they had a hand in the process.
