My Students

Our school supports many students with diverse backgrounds and nationalities, including an autism unit and a resource setting.

Music is vital to social and emotional development, as it helps the students to creatively express emotion.

This project is specific to grades 3-6, plus the autism unit and reaches a broad range of students throughout the school.

My Project

Having quality literature in the music classroom is vital. These engaging books will help me in my new music classroom to provide opportunities for literacy and music.

Connecting music to literature creates lifelong learners and readers.

Integrating music with reading is a whole language approach to well-rounded students. Students will benefit from this combination.

Finding books that students love and can sing to creates this connection. Also, having visuals while singing helps students to enjoy the music better.

In addition, music history and diverse song options help students to see themselves in the music classroom.
