The Bill of Rights Began with a Blank Page and a Quill
My students need 60 blank books.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Kelly's classroom raised $256
This project is fully funded
While adult writers view a blank page as potential writer's block, children respond to the lack of constraints to the same blank page. It opens the doors to their creativity.
atch. Our founding fathers were able to think outside the box and set the foundation for civil rights by starting over from scratch.
For the last few years, I have been teaching writing to young children. At first, I thought this was going to be rather difficult and that the children might find it overwhelming. I was wrong! The first couple of months are tough for them and for me but they really take off after that. I absolutely love to see the joy and sense of accomplishment when they complete a piece of writing. We even have publishing parties with iced tea and cookies. We all enjoy our young author's stories.
I love teaching in the Bronx and I love teaching young children. One of the first projects we begin early in the year is to have each student write their own book. This activity take a couple of months but at the end they have a personal book they can be proud of. These books are cherished by both the parents and the students themselves.
Our school budget has been significantly cut and we are in need of many materials to make our preschool a vibrant learning experience. The children are from low income families and often do not have the extra money to purchase educational materials for their children. This is why we try so hard to have it available to them here at school.
I am asking for enough blank books so that each child will be able to make three. The books are sold in a pack of 10 and I would need 6 packs. I promise to send pictures of the children writing and illustrating their books. We would also make you a class book signed by our young authors as well! Please pick us, we can't wait to start writing!
Thank you reading our proposal!
