Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 4-year-old intelligent people in an extended transitional kindergarten classroom. My students are full of curiosity, feelings, and energy. We are quickly developing a family-like community where we show interest in all of the members in our group. My students have busy hands and bodies that are ready to be engaged in learning through play, exploration, creativity, routine, peer interactions, and plenty of dialogue and music. We focus on language and cognitive development, creativity, explorations, hands-on projects (no worksheets whatsoever), team building, gross motor development, and coordination. We enjoy singing, dancing, painting, pretend play and active outdoor play, counting, painting, observing, and investigating.
My Project
It is time to restock our art supplies because my students have enjoyed making art projects for several months and have gone through all of our current art supplies. These drawing supplies will make a big difference in my preschool students' development.
My students will go from making a small scribble to making a work of art that takes pride of place on the fridge.
Drawing develops fine motor skills, encourages visual analysis, helps establish concentration, improves hand-eye coordination, increases individual confidence, and teaches creative problem-solving. We would very much appreciate permanent markers, scented markers, and cardstock for our art center.
