Help me give my students comfortable, homey seating options in our classroom for reading time.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
I wake up each morning filled with joy, knowing I have the pleasure of teaching my amazing first graders! Fascinated with everything from leaves to portrait art, my students are inquisitive and thrilled about learning. The enthusiasm that these six- and seven-year-olds show for their learning is a daily inspiration and motivator.
My kiddos exhibit a true zest for learning: beaming about books, maneuvering through math problems, and searching for scientific answers.
Ready for any challenge I pose them, my students show the potential and necessity for a strong educational foundation.
My class is part of a neighborhood public school in a community that is growing and changing every day. With many students coming from parents and grandparents who also attended the school, I am intent on providing my students with a first-grade experience that they and their parents will fondly remember.
On a recent self-report card, numerous students responded that they prefer reading at home to reading in school. Imagine my shock and horror! All my efforts to build a love for reading in school, and it's not working. Ah!
Upon further investigation, students shared that they love to curl up on a couch or comfy chair with their books at home, preferably with mom or dad.
While I can't bring parents into school every day, we can provide the students with more comfortable reading spots.
A classroom couch, large enough for three students, and a matching seat will expand my students' choices and hopefully even out those home-school reading differences!
