Help me give my students opportunities for meaningful experiences in our dramatic play with a wooden grocery store, play fishing sets, a play food grill, and a picnic set.
My students love to engage in dramatic play, whether it is shopping at the grocery store, cooking in the kitchen or treating a patient in the doctors office. In order to provide meaningful experiences for students in our dramatic play center, I would like to be able to offer them the proper materials to truly feel the role they are pretending to be.
Students not only have fun in the dramatic play area, but it also gives students the opportunities to make connections of what they are learning in school to their everyday life.
During our harvest unit, we transform our dramatic play area into a farmers market. We would love to have a grocery/farmer's market stand that gives students the real feel of a farmer's market and the chance for them to role play with their peers. We would love to have a construction worker set and tool belt for students to dress up during our buildings unit and pretend to be construction workers building important buildings in our community. We would love a fishing set, picnic set, campfire set, cooking grill and lantern when we transform our dramatic play into a campsite during our Earth unit. The students would be so excited to use these materials and would give them great opportunities to use their sense of imagination during role play.
