My Students
The week before our school closed due to Covid-19, many families were rightfully worried about the health and well being of their child. The decision to close schools was not made until Sunday evening giving teachers and students no time to prepare for any sort of remote learning.
My Project
Nothing could beat our pre-K classroom. It had everything our students needed. Our block center was an area where great civilizations could be built. Our dramatic play center could have put on Broadway-like productions. The art center could have inspired the next Picasso. The library nook was an airport that could take our children anywhere and everywhere.
But the most important thing about our classroom was that we had each other.
Remote learning is very different. We are making the best of what we have but are still learning how to navigate the uncharted area of distance learning. I am requesting materials to convert my home classroom into a place of wonder for my students.
It is difficult to find my own classroom space in my tiny apartment, especially with a 2 year old at home. The laptop I used for remote learning has already been become an item of fascination for my toddler and he has managed to pull a plug and dropping it on the floor. The camera no longer works and I am requesting a webcam and wireless headphones to reconnect with my students during our live learning sessions.
The remote classroom will never replace our school classroom. However, I hope to make it the next best thing by transforming where I am into almost anywhere for my students to see with the green screen.
When our kids were in school, they were in the FUN room. Help us turn our remote classroom into the FUN Zoom (we use Google Meet but Fun Zoom sounds better)!
