My Students

I have a fabulous class that is excited to learn and have hands-on experiences with the world. Many of them come from backgrounds that limit what is available to them and often don't see much past their TV, front door, or grocery store. They desire more than just paper and pencil work. That want to touch and feel what the world has to offer. They love to learn by exploration and are eager to connect their personal experiences to their current understanding.

My Project

Our students need more recess equipment. Funds are limited; therefore not much money is spent on equipment. I've also noticed that midway through the year most of the equipment is gone or has worn out.

It is my goal to provide students with more equipment such as balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops to help them move and get their wiggles out.

In addition, students will be taught proper care of equipment, team building games, and activities they can do with the equipment.

I feel that if we address the needs of the children, then we will have a lot fewer problems at recess and healthier kids. Fewer problems mean more learning in the classroom. Yippee!
