This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Mrs. Denning's PreK is always a place for fun and learning! We have 20 students - boys and girls aged 4 to 5 years old. All are very enthusiastic and are excited to come to school each day! Our school serves students PreK through 8th grade and is located in a neighborhood in the heart of the city. Many of our families are low income.
During our full-day PreK my students experience a variety of learning experiences in Literacy, Math, Social Studies and Science along with Social and Emotional Development, Fine Arts and Motor Development.
Learning is never boring in my room! We share much love and laughter and fun ways to learn! We practice writing letters in shaving cream! We learn how to listen for rhyming words by singing and dancing to silly tunes! We fine tune our math skills by counting and sorting holiday candy! We practice getting along with others during choice time activities! This is my 21st year teaching and I continue to enjoy creating exciting and memorable learning activities for my class!
My Project
I get so excited about new beginnings - especially the start of a new year with our youngest students - the PreK!
My project includes so many fun materials and resources to start our year with a splash - finger paint and paper, alphabet paint sponge stampers, magic boards and letter stencils, giant letter beads, outdoor classroom journals, a giant tub of animals and new baby dolls for our dramatic play center!
Everything is designed to make literacy and science learning fun AND to promote our students' social emotional development. I've also included some classroom essentials - staplers, markers, scissors, and printer ink to assist in setting our students up for success in the new school year!
