My Students

My students are a very diverse group of children with one thing in common; they all attend an urban, public Montessori school. Sixty percent of the students qualify for free lunch and eighty percent of the students are racial minorities.

We follow the teachings of Maria Montessori to meet the needs of the whole child, physically, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually, by allowing the child to guide his or her learning.

I am fortunate to be in a school that sees music as an integral part of the child's development and encourages musical growth and expression.

My Project

We are working hard in the music room to bring joy not only to students but also to their families by sharing what we've learned through virtual programs! We've done 2 programs so far and have learned that my computer just isn't cutting it both in video and sound quality!

We need a new video camera and microphone to really share our hard work and musical genius with our community!

This video camera and microphone will be used to not only create virtual programs, but also record our (eventual) live performances to share with our families! Music is meant to be shared and these materials will help make that happen!
