My kindergarten classroom is all about learning, working hard, making time for some fun, and finding the ability to work independently and be responsible. Having quality materials readily available is a must!
I teach an active group of 21 kindergarten children.
We spend most of our day moving from place to place in our classroom. When it is time to work in small groups or individually with students, they must have adequate table space. My students enjoy working with their peers and helping others in small groups. They are all very excited about learning new things and enjoy working together to complete tasks.
Some of my students are working on letters and sounds, some are exercising for better motor skills when writing, and some are ready to read. No matter the level, no matter the experience, they all enjoy working together.
Our school is in a small, rural town in Tennessee. It is the only public elementary school in the county and currently enrolls just under 1,000 students from Pre-K to fourth grade. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch on a daily basis.
My Project
We need one more appropriate sized table that will fit my students and the size of our classroom better. The size of this table will be the same as our previous project, but will add a little more space, as our classroom numbers have grown. Our old tables were of different sizes and shapes. Since receiving our other five tables, everything in our classroom has been ruining smoother. The students are able to be in groups with the same number. Due to the new space, i am able to visit each table more freely and the kids are able to work together more efficiently.
By having all tables the same size and shape, each group will be matched by number of students, and we can easily move them around without disturbing the other items and furniture in our classroom.
The color bands on each table make it a breeze for grouping students or letting each color know when their attention is needed or it is time for them to participate in an activity.
New chair pockets are needed due to wear and tear on our older chair pockets. These pockets are wonderful for storage and organizing each students materials. They also make all supplies easily accessible instead of traveling across the room to gather materials.
