This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an amazing group of loving, bilingual diverse students. This year, my students have impressed me in the way they show love and care for each other. My students consistently find ways to help each other and cheer each other up. My students communicate their feelings, thoughts, and ideas with me in a lot of different ways. Some things they write to me in the chat, but in the middle of teaching, I miss some comments. The students always find a respectful way to let me know what their classmates need or offer assistance without my asking.
They care about each other and now I will teach them how to take care of themselves through the love of self-identity!
My Project
My students are a beautifully diverse group of third-graders. In today’s society, it is sometimes difficult for my students to see the beauty of their identity. We see on the news the pour of their culture. The horrible treatment of their culture through our history. We are constantly being reminded that my student’s culture and who they are is not valued. In our class, we talked about the beauty of each and every one of my students. We’ve talked about the importance of a presentation, the beauty of their cultures, and most importantly the beauty within them. I want to continue this conversation with my students. I want them to truly understand that the color of their skin, their culture, and their personality are beautiful!
Combine with grade books and rich conversations, my students will create a self-portrait that will help them visualize how beautiful they are!
