Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hola`! Ni-hao! Ciao! I teach ELL (English Language Learner) students from 12 different countries of varying English levels. We believe everyone can achieve the American dream. We want our students to feel confident that they can succeed and fulfill their hopes and dreams no matter where they come from and what kinds of challenges this new way of living is bringing to us.

Our school is a Title I school with many living at the poverty level.

The students love coming to school because it's a safe learning environment with a caring staff and support system. Most of the students in our class are Hispanic newcomers, with a few Asian, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European. With so many different cultures and languages in the classroom, we feel a sense of unity when the students get a chance to engage with technology. Even though there are so many differences going on, students of different cultures find the ability to communicate especially when technology is at the forefront.

We are fortunate enough to have a 6th grade STEM cohort this school year to raise levels of creativity, and scientific and mathematical thinking. These are the job skills that are in high demand.

My Project

My students need plenty of basic supplies to help get them thru this year. Dry erase markers, pens, pencils, mice, and batteries are all supplies that can be taken home. Wired mouse can be used with their Chromebooks to make dragging and sliding item on the screen so much easier!

Kids all need these basics at home and I'm happy to provide that for them, including Kleenex!

I am happy to give out water bottles so they can stay hydrated and know how important it is to drink water. And, of course a teacher planner for myself so I can stay organized, because this year may be just as strange as the last 2 have been!
