This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are funny, caring, unique and inquisitive about everything. Our school is a downtown school that serves mostly free or reduced price lunch students. We are an International Baccalaureate school and we have high expectations that students will make a positive impact in their world regardless of where they come from. Our diverse population teaches our students to become global citizens.

I encourage and challenge my students to be the best person at home, at school and in their community.

My Project

My class is very students driven. Last month I asked my students what would they like to see in their classroom, most of them agreed they would like to see more technology. Many of my students lack the opportunity to use an iPad at home.

Two iPads would give my students the opportunity to build their collaboration skills, advance technology skills and grow language skills in a new creative way.

The iPads would be used to create Google Docs. I can see it now, students having writing conferences with each other through the iPads. Group collaboration presentations being edited on iMovie. A student practicing his or her multiplication facts. With your support my students could have access to a class iPads.

My students will be able to use the variety of school supplies to enhance their creativity. The markers, pencils, expo markers poster paper, tape, post its would be used during our upcoming writing unit focus on Informational Writing then Persuasive Writing. Students will need to pull information for sources and present their findings to the class in a variety of ways. The markers would help the students create posters they could display in the classroom, in our office, but around the school. White board conversations would need more expo markers.

Lastly, the copy paper would be for a donation for our office staff. My students wanted to post something for the office staff. They are in constant need of copy paper. Our copy supply is almost out. The office staff send letters or announcements home to our Husky Families. We need those papers to continue to go home.
