Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a self-contained special education kindergarten/ first grade bridge class. The majority of my students come from high poverty backgrounds as well as homes in which English is not the primary language.
I believe my students deserve a high quality education in a warm and caring environment to meet their diverse learning needs.
Regardless of the socieconomic situations in their homes or their home language, all of my students deserve access to the exact same educational opportunities as their peers.
My Project
My students need plenty of the basic supplies to support their needs in the classroom.
Pencils, paper, and sticky notes are used for assessment and supportive mathematics, literacy, and science activities in my classroom.
These tools need to be available at all times in all work areas for the students. Paper, pencils, and post-its are consumables and when they are plentiful, my students feel secure and can flourish. They provide for many opportunities for the children to show their work, be engaged, share responses, and check their answers. Supplies to last throughout the year will go a long way to help the children be successful.
