This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students at our school had such a blast voting for their favorite 2021-2022 & 2022-2023 California Young Reader Medal Nominees the past 2 school years, and I can not wait to share this experience with them again!
This is an amazing opportunity for students to be able to let their voices be heard and learn about the power of their own vote.
Our students will have the chance to choose their favorite book in each of the following 3 California Young Reader Medal categories:
Primary Picture Books
Picture Books for Older Readers
Intermediate Chapter Books
It is my hope to get copies of the 2023-2024 nominees early so that I have many opportunities to share the books with the entire school. I also want to ensure that we have multiple copies on hand so that students who would like to read the books on their own all have plenty of opportunities to do so.
