The Band Program has been experiencing fantastic growth. It is thrilling to work with students that are excited for music.
We are hoping to continue to offer new musical opportunities and hope to never have to turn students away again.
I would love to add some less traditional brass and string instruments to the sound of the band. The students voted and selected these as the instruments they would like to try out.
My Project
My students are interested in all kinds of instruments. It is my job to expose them to instruments outside the range of the general concert band experience to help them become life long learners and lovers of music. They have been asking for a pocket trumpet for many years now. The ukulele is quickly becoming the most requested instrument within the band. We own none of our own.
I love the ukulele."It's got a beautiful, melodic tone to it.
There's something innocent and romantic, and it's just a grand instrument to play." Pierce Brosnan
"Jazz music is America's past and its potential, summed up and sanctified and accessible to anybody who learns to listen to, feel, and understand it. The music can connect us to our earlier selves and to our better selves-to-come. It can remind us of where we fit on the time line of human achievement, an ultimate value of art". Wynton Marsalis
"We look for students whose previous participation in the arts shows that they can make a substantial contribution to our academic community." William R. Fitzsimmons Dean of Admissions at Harvard University
