My Students

Remember that student in your science class who wanted to draw all the time. He/she might have been you, and you wished your teacher would find a way to combine science and art class? Well our 6th graders are going to learn how to do just that in our STEM class as they design dams and robots.

Our students will be 6th graders this fall and are the 1st group of students in our school.

We are a new science middle school, opening our doors for the first time this fall. Our students will follow a STEM program in science class and we need a lot of classroom supplies to help them design the physics projects they will create. Our students are open minded, intelligent, African-American, Caribbean-American and Latino in heritage. Several students will be new English learners as well as Special Education Students. Our school will provide an engaging learning environment in small classes with experience and creative teachers who "think out of the box". Our principal is a former science teacher who believes that all students can learn if they are provided a rich engaging environment with the right tools, taught by teachers who believe in what they do and teach with a passion to move mountains. Our school is preparing for the fall to welcome our graduating class.

My Project

In Science class as well as for our Karakuri/Robotics club, our 6th graders will engage in the design of several STEM projects such as the design of robotic to help the disabled, and the design of dams. Our goal is to introduce several mathematical concepts in the 6th grade in order to ensure that students are able to learn, apply and master these concepts for 6th, 7th & 8th grade. Students will utilize our supplies to help them create mechanical paper models as well as robots to accomplish certain task. We want students to become comfortable using advance calculators as well as learn lab safety and how real scientist use models to help them design solutions to real world problems. Students will use copy paper to print their lab reports, revise their work and to also draw and print several graphs to explain their research and findings. Our students will be engaged in writing their best work and will revise their work until it reaches a level of competent. Several revisions are required

A major expense for any teacher are the tools and supplies needed to teach our students.

Your donation will benefit three science classes. The lessons created will engage all learners, but especially artistic students who thrive when they are allowed to utilize their imagination and œhands on activities to create the projects that can engage them and push them to think critically, and allow other students to learn œthe "art in science". Our students are our future engineers.
