This word is \"gift\". Your gift of giving to my students have allowed them to find their gifts for Botany, their green thumbs, their love of nature and discovery for composting. We received our supplies in time for my scholars to utilize so many of the pots, soil, fertilizer, plants & tools for them to create their own mini gardens & germinate so many yellow, green, orange and purple peppers as well as growing mushrooms.\r\n\r\nTeaching students about biology especially Botany is difficult as we unpack the vocabulary of photosynthesis, stomata, stems, roots, propagation etc. Helping students to grow their own vegetables and flowers brings the vocabulary and learning to life.\r\n\r\nStudents are learning as they are growing and designing the environment of each plant as well as giving as gifts to their parents. Again, thank you for the gift of giving to our vision.","fullyFundedDate":1746786971107,"projectUrl":"project/a-garden-in-brooklyn/9284108/","projectTitle":"A Garden in Brooklyn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jennings","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1006129_orig.jpg?crop=2152,2152,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1567119278231","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/michelle-jennings"},{"teacherId":1006129,"projectId":8911563,"letterContent":"My students enjoy new experiences and the love of reading science books. Our STEM carpet was used to decorate our Science Fair & then for students to sit on when they read in our resource center. The Robotics books will help them to develop specific reading skills and the Anime coloring books are useful to help our students to focus & concentrate.\r\n\r\nWhen are supplies arrived they all gathered around the boxes waiting for me to open them. The biggest benefit was reading the stories about robots from our National Geographic Robots books and selecting several more stories to read in the Big Book of Science Fiction. \r\n\r\nThese resources will allow my students to continue reading unique stories well into next year. Our resources will also allow my students to create their own stories in the \"Make a Story\" writing journal. We will be using these journals as students share their own personal stories with nature.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nI","fullyFundedDate":1735130323779,"projectUrl":"project/reading-resource-center-needed/8911563/","projectTitle":"Reading Resource Center Needed!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jennings","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1006129_orig.jpg?crop=2152,2152,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1567119278231","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/michelle-jennings"},{"teacherId":1006129,"projectId":8865427,"letterContent":"Our generation of students at 11 yrs old already have a debit card, but seldom understand the concept of credits and debits or how to count money.\r\n\r\nOur financial literacy class works with an online program to teach kids about money. Your support has made a tremendous difference in my classroom, and my students are thriving because of it. The addition of headphones has been a game-changer, especially for students who use speech-to-text technology. Before, background noise made it difficult for them to use this tool effectively, but now, they can clearly articulate their thoughts without distractions. This has helped them feel more confident in their writing, allowing them to express themselves more freely.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects of this new technology is how it empowers my students who struggle with spelling. Many of them hesitate to answer questions in writing because they're unsure of how to spell certain words. With speech-to-text, they no longer feel held back by their spelling skills—they can simply focus on sharing their ideas. This shift has been incredible to witness, as students who once avoided written tasks are now participating with enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nIn particular, my students with IEPs have benefitted tremendously. They now engage with their work in a way that wasn't possible before, and it's amazing to see their confidence grow. Additionally, the snacks you provided have been a wonderful bonus. Many of my students rely on school for meals, and having extra snacks in the classroom helps keep them focused and ready to learn. Your generosity has not only improved their learning experience but also shown them that there are people out there who truly care about their success. Thank you for making such a meaningful impact!","fullyFundedDate":1733495194037,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-supportive-learning-environme/8800717/","projectTitle":"Creating a Supportive Learning Environment for All","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ridore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6357741"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_110163","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":399,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":81,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":87,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"21.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.7,"schoolId":110163,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brooklyn Science Engineering Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brooklyn Science Engineering Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/brooklyn-science-engineering-academy/110163"}
