My Project

I teach art in a suburban school district located in Western Massachusetts. Imagine my surprise when I cleaned out the supply cabinets to find brayers and burnishers, but no tools or supplies to use them on. I would love to teach my students the magic of printmaking where they can take their original designs and create multiple prints of the same image! One of the schools where I teach is made up of about 200 amazing students, from first to fifth grade. The students all have unique personalities and a passion for learning through creative expression. This project is for printmaking tools; Gelli printing plates, styrofoam embossing sheets and colorful printing ink. With these tools, students will learn about the history and the art of printmaking, and have fun while learning and exploring this new medium.
