The Art of Modeling Characters!

My students need these books and art supplies so that we can integrate clay modeling into our literature lessons. They will use the clay to create characters from their stories to make their learning more meaningful.

My Students

My scholars this year a a wonderful, caring, and energetic group of kindergarten friends. Although they come from a high poverty background, they all work as a team to motivate and encourage one another academically, socially, and emotionally. It is so heartwarming to see them grow together as a family.

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

Nelson Mandela

My school is a Pre-K-8 building, where 100 percent of the scholars receive a free and reduced breakfast and lunch. Once my friends fill their stomachs; they are ready to come to class and fill their brains with knowledge. Each scholar works to to meet his/her academic potential with support from myself and peers. We are a great team this year!

My Project

Scholars will incorporate modeling clay into their literature. This will allow them to experiment and create life-like characters from the stories that they read at the listening center. Using the clay will help improve their learning skills because they will have the opportunity to picture the character in their minds and then build it. The story will come to life!

This is an exciting hands on activity that will make their learning more meaningful and fun!

I can't wait for my scholars to get the chance to read these wonderful pieces of literature and then create their story characters. The scholars will use the trays to carry their pipe cleaners, googles eyes, and clay, so that they will be organized and ready to create the story characters at their tables. Incorporating art with literature is a great way to give scholars creativity in their learning!
