My Students
We have an incredible group of third grade students this year! The school I am in is a Title I school, with a large majority of my students living in low-income families or below the poverty line. 100 percent of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch.
These students are eager learners, craving education.
They are intelligent, caring human beings. They work hard, and make great gains in all they do.
It's said that raising a child takes a village. We are reaching out to the village to help these young minds reach their potential.
My Project
Students are eager to learn cursive in 3rd grade. They being their curiosity of cursive by looping letters and adding embellishments. It's quite cute to see what the students initially call "cursive". As the year has gone on, I get more and more requests for cursive instruction.
Handwriting improves as students begin to focus on the minute details of cursive perfection.
Students learn to not only produce beautiful handwriting, but they learn to take care of other details in life. This project extends far beyond the lost art of handwriting.
All year, I've been trying to figure out how to fund cursive books. Photo copies are extremely limited. The idea of purchasing a throw-away book doesn't allow for use in future years. These wipe-off cursive dry erase books will allow 3rd grade students now and for many years to come to continue to feed the curiosity of perfecting cursive.
