Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project will benefit all of my K-3 SDC students in the mild-mod classroom! Our students are diverse in backgrounds, and academic needs, but they are ALL eager to learn!
Over 80% of our student population comes from socioeconomically disadvantaged households, and over 66% are English language learners.
As study after study has demonstrated, access to books and supplies is essential for them to succeed!
My Project
My dream for our classroom is that no child will ever feel short-changed simply because their families struggle financially. In order to create a classroom worthy of all of their efforts, I would like to see a couple of brand-new pieces of furniture. Currently, we do not have a place to put our reading materials, as the bookshelves are filled with academic materials.
I would love to see a beautiful reading nook in my classroom, with comfortable seating and a beautiful storage unit to hold the most engaging materials at my students' levels.
Everything else including the masks that are requested are for putting the finishing touches on a safe and respectful environment. Thank you!
