My Students
My students come from very diverse backgrounds and attend a school that focuses on project-based learning. As such, they are accustomed to working on collaborative projects and taking deep dives into several areas of our curriculum, including literature, history, and art.
My students are at a dynamic age; they inquisitively view the world through lenses that are both curious and magical.
As their teacher, I am constantly exploring new ways to keep them enthusiastically engaged in all that we do. They always bring a lot to the table and never cease to amaze me.
My Project
This spring my students are participating in an animated film festival, featuring films from Studio Ghibli in Japan and Cartoon Saloon in Ireland. As they study the story elements of each film, they will also learn about the amazing talent behind the animation of both studios.
Our Film Festival is more than just watching cartoons.
It requires deep analysis, research into Japanese and Irish folklore, and the processes of animating a feature film. The books included in this project will help my students learn, and learn to appreciate, the major accomplishments of modern animators.
