My students are eager to learn to read. They practice their sight words daily using flashcards. They love to demonstrate their knowledge. They get a thrill whenever we can display their work in class. They work hard and collaborate with their classmates often.
My students thrive when they are able to do nontraditional assignments that involve some color and creation on their part.
They love stickers and stamps on their daily assignments. They feel a sense of accomplishment whenever they complete a task or activity. They take pride in their work and strive to always do their best.
My Project
My goal for this project is to provide my students with materials that will help them practice their literacy skills. I want to give them alphabet stamps that can be used daily to practice spelling and reading sight words. I want to give them dry erase pockets to keep their work safe when using the Play-Doh to create their sight words. This new way of practicing their word work will ignite excitement during our Daily 5 reading rotations.
My students will absolutely love to learn how to study while having a good time creating something new.
They will be able to use their own creativity as they practice the grade level sight words. This project will also help to cut down on the amount of paper that is used on a daily basis in our classroom.
