The Answers Are Out There: Astrophysics for Middle Schoolers
Help me give my students the ability to expand their thinking about the universe and answer their many questions about space. Astrophysics for Young People is a great book to introduce the complex ideas and build understanding.

My Project
Over the years my 6h grade science students have asked many questions such as how was the universe created, where do the elements come from, how is a black hole created, what is dark matter, and so on. The book Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry not only helps to break down these complex ideas, it is also written by Neil DeGrasse Tyson who is a world renowned scientist that also lives and works in our own backyard of New York City.
I am planning to use this book as part of my Science Enrichment classroom in order to help build students analyzation and discussion skills.
We will be reading and discussing the book as part of a socratic seminar. It will be used as a resource for students to pull from to help answer questions and support claims using science discourse. With your help my students will be able to continue to grow critical thinking skills and work towards the ultimate goal of becoming lifelong learners. It is my hope that this book will inspire them to think and open new ideas in science.
