This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
After winter break this year, we will be studying regulatory mechanisms in the human body. However, such concepts are abstract without concrete physical examples. My students' homeostasis unit could truly come alive with the inclusion of comparative anatomy.
In order to fully comprehend bodily functions, my students should see homologous structures across multiple animal models.
Abstract research is important, but hands-on experiments are remembered for a lifetime. Furthermore, having fetal pigs and frogs available would simultaneously allow my students to practice dissection skills and explore anatomical differences. Following instructions, scalpel safety, communication and diligence are all skills my students can foster through this lab.
