This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

“The Great Gatsby” is a classic novel exploring themes of the American Dream, wealth, love, and social class. Have a personal copy allows my students to annotate the text and share their interactions with the plot of the story.

With analyzing color symbolism and the dangers of pursuing wealth and status, my students will better understand the nuances Fitzgerald utilizes in the text, and having their own copy will benefit the critical thinking skills used as they analyze for characterization and plot development.

As I teach at a Title 1 campus, many of my students are not able to buy basic classroom materials, and I would like to give them this opportunity to have a personal copy of a classic.
