The new titles from the 2025 TAYSHAS Reading List have introduced a wider range of voices, perspectives, and genres into our classroom, giving students the freedom to choose books that truly speak to them.\r\n\r\nThese books are helping students build skills crucial to strong readers and thinkers: analyzing author's craft, identifying thematic complexity, making inferences, strengthening vocabulary, and developing the stamina necessary for reading longer, more challenging texts. Even more importantly, students are learning how to think deeply, how to question, and how to connect literature to their own real experiences and identities.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now looks like students spread out with books they chose themselves—some annotating quietly, others leaning over to share a favorite line, and many engaging in thoughtful discussions during conferences. With these high-interest texts available, students are reading more consistently and with more curiosity than ever before.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helps create a classroom where every student can see themselves as a reader—whether they're picking up a fantasy novel, a contemporary realistic story, a memoir, or a mystery. Because of you, they're discovering that reading can be both challenging and deeply rewarding.","fullyFundedDate":1742919873011,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-student-readers-new-stories/9185084/","projectTitle":"Empowering Student Readers: New Stories, New Perspectives, and New Adventures!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Branson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9679241_orig.jpg?crop=2176,2176,x0,y152&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755185325139","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9679241"},{"teacherId":7922888,"projectId":9118423,"letterContent":"As we read \"The Great Gatsby,\" my students analyzed characterization and themes in the text. It was a treat to see those with a personal copy annotate the text and make notes as we read.
