My students need 17 popular science books about the brain, including works by Oliver Sacks and Antonio Damasio.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Atallah's classroom raised $319

I love teaching about the brain. I think that it is a great means to get kids interested in science as a career. This is for the neuroscience unit of a twelfth grade anatomy and physiology class.
I can't think of anyone who doesn't love to hear about weird things that the brain can do and what happens when something goes wrong that exposes the beautiful complexity of the mind. I teach anatomy and physiology, and during my neuroscience unit I would like to offer a library of popular science books for my students to check out and read during the unit.
I have asked for a variety of popular science books from authors like Oliver Sacks, Jonah Lehrer and Antonio Damasio for my students to read. I have read all of these books, and they could not be more interesting as well as informative. Furthermore, I can't imagine that students won't be talking to their parents about the amazing things they're reading about the brain.
When you read anyone of these books you can't help but think, "Man, these guys have cool jobs!" I want my students to realize that scientific research is amazing and exciting. Also, these books show amazing experimental methods that show the ingenuity and creativity that can be shown through scientific experiments. These books will get students excited about science.
