This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am the Special Education teacher of 12 third and fourth grade students. My classroom is a substantially separate classroom, this mean students are placed with me for extra instruction in the subjects of Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
My students are smart, hardworking children who require a friendly nudge to complete daily tasks and assignments.
Our school can be found in the Springfield area, an area full of life and excitement. However, a lot of our students come from low income families and struggle to upkeep with materials that are needed throughout the school year.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning because they will have everything they need to make in-person learning as smooth a transition as possible. Last year was quite a journey for us all and we didn't know exactly what to expect.
I would like my new fourth graders to come into my classroom feeling welcomed and prepared.
The post it notes and place holders will allow them to take brief notes while reading and hold their place when a transition to another activity has to occur. The folder pockets will assist in organization of any written assignments as well as any missing assignments when a student is absent or not present in the class for a specific subject. The pointers are a fun way to engage students in their learning and give them an opportunity to demonstrate their ideas and opinions. The sharpies are a great tool to assist with writing and learning different parts of a painted essay.
I would like to provide my students with the best and safest experience possible after a year of home learning and being in a virtual world.
