Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With the increase of rigor in the classroom, young learners need all the practice they can get to develop and improve their reading and writing skills.
My students are 5 and 6 year-old children who live in a low socioeconomic community.
Many of my students are English Language Learners. They are great kids with lots of curiosity, but many times they have to deal with difficult situations in their lives. Though our school may not be located in a great area, we work hard to give our students an inviting place to learn and a chance to experience new and memorable things, in order to create an opportunity for a better life.
My Project
The resources I am requesting would be used in individual center stations and guided practiced with the teacher. All of the materials are fun and interactive and will engage students in learning more about the alphabet and it's properties.
The magnetic letters and alphabet stamps will be used to spell out words or even sentences as they learn new letters and sounds. The alphabet, rhyming, and word activities will give the students a chance to practice skills on their own.
Finally the chart paper will be very handy for shared and interactive writing with the class. The lines will guide students to have accurate letter formation.
I know these materials will help improve my students' reading abilities.
The alphabet activities, stamps, and magnets will engage them and give them the confidence they need to develop their reading skills. I know I will be able to see the growth as we write all year long on our chart paper.
