My Project

I teach at a special education center high school for students grades K-12. Our amazing program is located in Detroit, Michigan. We serve students with a wide variety of psychiatric, cognitive, and behavioral needs. We service students from the entire city of Detroit. Our school has 30, beautiful, young people with varying strengths and weaknesses. Their backgrounds are as diverse as their abilities.

We are all unique, but we are definitely a family here.

This project is to bring fun, fabulous, and above all, INFORMATIVE Black History T-Shirts to our school! These amazing t's go through the alphabet and show a picture and identify an important figure in Black history for every letter of the alphabet.

Why T-Shirts? Because with these shirts, we will all become informative, long-term walking billboards to represent history. Students will keep these forever and will absorb the information much more aptly than if we gave them a coloring book or cards, as they will see it over and over within their environment.
