Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of the students I work with struggle in areas of self-esteem and identity as well as their social emotional learning. I would use these creative tools to help them strengthen how they see themselves and cope with their emotions.
Students who are able to use creative and a variety of sensory activities to process their feelings, seem to do better.
The ability to use sensory bins will help my students with their social skills, like cooperation and communication. The bins will provide opportunities for my students to explore their feelings through multiple senses, including sound, sight, touch and smell. I would like to give students more ways that they can process their feelings.
The items I am requesting will allow me to give students several diverse ways to talk through feelings of self-esteem, their identity and allow them to express their emotions in different ways.
