Our Kindergarten students are so motivated and ready to explore!
Kindergarten is when they develop a love of school and learning.
Our school population is about 80% FARM (free and reduced meals) and over 2/3 of our students are English Language learners.
It is up to us to provide the resources and experiences they need to build background knowledge for learning, as well as the tools they need to experiment, imagine and develop the critical thinking skills they will need to become college and career ready.
With limited oral language skills and experiences, it is essential for our students to have lots of concrete objects and visuals in order to access and understand our curriculum.
We use K'nex for our Science unit on Force and Motion. We do not have enough materials to give every student, even if they work in pairs.
Our students will thrive when they have opportunities to create and engineer projects through language experiences and STEM lessons.
These K'Nex will give the teachers on our team the resources to make these lessons possible. Having a project to share will also promote their language development and give them experiences for writing!
Our students deserve a chance to dream big, to create and to grow! Thank you for helping us reach our goal!
