Textbooks for Theatre for Young Audiences

My project needs 22 copies of the anthology Theatre for Young Audiences: 20 Great Plays for Children.

Highland High School has become a national model for the development of new plays for young audiences and actors. Over the past ten years, Highland students have premiered and developed fourteen new plays by major young adult playwrights, ten of which have now been published. 'Theatre for Young Audiences' is a major component of our theatre foundations courses and the students study individual copies of published scripts. These plays include IN THE GARDEN OF THE SELFISH GIANT which premiered at Highland in 2004 and won the 2005 Distinguished Play Award from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education. The "20 Plays for Young Audiences" collection allow me to introduce my theatre foundations students to many of the major writers in the field, 10 of whom I have worked with on the national scene and 2 of whom have worked with my Highland students. The texts will provide them with a crucial overview of the contemporary field of theatre for young audiences and will better prepare them for the playwright residencies we host at the school each year.
