Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The lessons children learn are not always obvious. Many students want to test their culinary skills. We are Texans and we love BBQ. The problem is not all of the kids have an opportunity at home to learn this skill. BBQ is not always about the product it is about the process. They will lean intangible skills and in a safe environment learn about experimenting with different outcomes.

Students get a real sense of self when they are empowered to bring a project to life.

They will have multiple opportunities to use this smoker to create limitless fundraisers. They will be empowered to plan out of school learning opportunities. By having a product to advertise, sell, and distribute they can also learn about how small business' operate with less of the risk.

All of the profits we make from the fundraising will go back into the club to buy items for smoking meats like spices, wood chips, the meats used and for potential bbq competitions. Any extra money will go back into the schools travel fund for students wanting to go to our Washington DC field trip.
