My Students

Do you remember your favorite stories from when you were a child?

My class of 23 enthusiastic first graders are beginning their life-long journey to becoming avid readers!

We are a public school in Charlotte, NC and spend a whole hour of our day in Reader's Workshop devouring our "just-right" books! To keep the love of reading alive, books that are at our just right reading level are necessary so that we can continue to build the foundations to become successful readers.

My Project

As a part of our Reader's Workshop program, each student book shops at least once per week in our class library and we go through books very quickly. To keep the love of reading alive in my students and help increase our reading stamina (we should read for 60 whole minutes by the end of first grade!), it is important that we have a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction titles that we can choose from.

Students gain their love of reading at an early age and it is vital that I have the resources available in the classroom to set my students up for success.

I have a diverse range of learners in my room, and it is my goal as an educator to provide the materials to my students so that they can grow as learners and meet their best potential.
