My students are excited third graders at our integrated arts magnet school. Students are engaged in our learning through technology, music, dance, and the visual arts. They are active learners and are eager to come to school. They love learning in new and innovative ways.
My students are eager readers always looking for their next favorite book.
They devour the books in our library, and they love falling in love with a new series. They are excited to be at school each day and are ready to learn new things.
My Project
My classroom is made up of a variety of races. My students love making connections with texts, but we don't always have enough high quality books for them to connect to. These books will be added to our classroom library for students to choose to read and as read alouds so every student can experience their wonder.
Readers are built from falling in love with powerful books we can relate to.
These multicultural texts will allow my students to connect with strong characters that look like them. Books by Peter Reynolds give powerful and uplifting messages. There are several books chosen as Coretta Scott King award winners so that my students can learn about tricky topics in grade appropriate ways.
